Lectors – Lay Assistants – Altar Guild – Choir – Vestry – Mission Team
Holy Trinity has a great community of people who enjoy working together and help out in many different ways depending on their individual gifts. If you would like to explore how you could volunteer please contact the Rector, The Reverend Michael O’Hara at 847-7281.
Holy Trinity currently has 13 Lectors who rotate through a 3- month schedule by reading either the first or second lesson doing services. The readings are sent out in advance to each reader to help them become comfortable with the bible passages.
Lay Assistants (also known as Layreaders)
Holy Trinity has 6 Lay Assistants trained by the Rector and licensed in the Diocese of Fredericton. Lay Assistants assist the priest and conduct some religious services, however, are not licensed to celebrate Eucharist. Lay Assistant’s rotate on a 3 -month schedule.
As with all the other groups, being a member of the Altar Guild is a time honoured and reverent tradition of preparing the altar and sanctuary for various services. This includes changing the altar cloths dependant on the Church Season, setting the altar for Communion during assigned times which is approximately twice a year, arranging for altar flowers (if appropriate) and caring for the linens.
If you can sing or just hum along you are welcome to join the choir at Holy Trinity! Under the music direction of Cindy Dutton thoughtful care is taken to choose hymns appropriate for the church season and event. Anthems are sung regularly in 4 -part harmony and new members are always welcome! Choir Rehearsal occurs every Tuesday from 7:00 pm to 8:00 pm in the church with a break during the summer months.
Holy Trinity is part of The Corporation of the Anglican Parish of Hammond River and as such has a governance structure that includes an elected Vestry consisting of 7 members, 2 Wardens, and a Treasurer chaired by The Reverend Michael O’Hara. The Vestry Clerk is the Parish Administrator. Meetings are held the Second Wednesday of each month except during the months of July and August. Counters are valuable members of the parish who assist with counting offerings following church services.
A parish Annual General Meeting is held in February of each year with appropriate public notification and generation of an Annual Report.
Every parishioner is part of the Parish Mission Team. Mission Team Leader – Cleo Cyr (847-0116), Mission events both inside and outside the church are planned on an ongoing basis, however, yearly planning occurs in February when strategic planning for the parish is reviewed. All parishioners are invited to participate in building parish mission.
